“Statement of position concerning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
To the leadership of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament,
Dear Mr Legutko, dear Mr Procaccini,
We, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), wish to state clearly our position concerning the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
AUR firmly condemns Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine. We regard these actions as a flagrant breach of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our party is unwavering in its support for peace and for the strict observance of international law.
We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and fully support their right to a free life and to a sovereign nation. Ukraine’s territorial integrity must be preserved, and any resolution of this conflict must rest upon respect for international legal standards and norms.
AUR remains committed to promoting and upholding the principles of peace, security and the rule of law within the European Union and the neighbouring regions. We believe our inclusion in the European Conservatives and Reformists Group will strengthen our collective efforts to promote stability, peace and respect for international law in Europe.
We look forward to the opportunity of discussing our position further and of contributing actively to the group’s mission in the European Parliament.

AUR signed a declaration of its unilateral support for the Ukrainian cause in order to enter the European Conservatives and Reformists Group.
“We asked AUR for a formal written declaration concerning their unilateral support for the Ukrainian cause; entry into the ECR would not have been possible without it,” said the group’s co-chairman Nicola Procaccini, according to La Repubblica.
“We asked AUR for a formal written declaration concerning their unilateral support for the Ukrainian cause; entry into the ECR would not have been possible without it, because we have always stood alongside Kiev,” said the ECR co-chairman Nicola Procaccini, answering a question as to whether the AUR leader is persona non grata in Ukraine on account of his political positions.
“If one day Orbán too wished to join the ECR, he would have to do the same,” Procaccini explained.
