“The Sovereigntists Wish to Launch the White Swan onto the Coming Electoral Pond”

“The Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc was baptised at the weekend. Seven parties have joined their destinies. The announcement made by Eugen Orlando Teodorovici, at the launch conference of the new political project under the motto “United for the Nation” — that “if he is on the ballot paper at the presidential elections, it would be a pity for the sovereigntists not to vote for him” — produced an avalanche of news.
It is not the first time that one of the most remarkable finance ministers has expressed the intention of standing for the highest office in the state. In fact, that is the course of a politician. You climb onto the stage not only to be seen, but also to see the world better.
The event was put under the media spotlight thanks to — not because of — the uniting of the sovereigntist forces into a pole with every chance of polarising factions and formations, unhappily named a Bloc. In the memory of our generations there still reverberates Petru Groza’s National Democratic Bloc, which stole the last free elections of 1946. But it is not the name that matters; it is the agglutination of a conglomerate of forces, dispersed until only yesterday, into an alliance addressing a broad pool of voters weary of eurocratism and globalism.
Present for several hours at the sovereigntists’ gathering, I noticed — besides the coherent, well-argued and rousing speeches of Viorica Dăncilă and of Eugen Orlando Teodorescu, long applauded, a sign that they long ago passed the test of an audience — a vigorous project of constitutional reform, formulated, thought out and expressed by the lawyer Dan Chitic. The Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc offers the electorate a well-consolidated political programme for the country: “The Third Republic”.
In essence, it proposes a semi-parliamentary regime, with a president elected for a four-year term, with limited powers, and with a far more accountable legislature. In the statement of reasons, the sovereigntist leader Ninel Peia, of vast political experience, explained that the first republic was set up by the Bolsheviks, the second by the Euro-Atlantic structures, and that the time has come for the third to represent the sovereignty of the people, in the — if you will — Gaullist sense. Were the sovereigntists to obtain absolute power, speaking in terms of ideas, then the secret services would be demilitarised, the prime minister would be appointed from the party that won the elections, the president would have limited powers. He would no longer appoint the judges of the Constitutional Court of Romania, nor would he be able to call referendums. The boldest proposal seems to me to be that prosecutors should no longer be considered magistrates but advocates of the state. Let their aura as the armed arms of the hegemon be brought down! And, not least, the management by Romanians of the natural reserves — to put it plainly, a nationalisation.
What is interesting is that in the project “The Third Republic” there is discussion of the sovereignty law, rejected even by some leaders of the parliamentary opposition, which would prohibit positive or negative discrimination as a consequence of accepting or refusing a medical treatment, prohibit timber exports, repatriate the gold reserve and abolish the right of the intelligence services to finance themselves out of commercial activities.
“We could not be defeated, if we hold out. We want a third republic devised by Romanians for Romanians,” announced Ninel Peia, the creator of the alliance, from the very opening of the conference. “Romania must be in the heart, the mind and the soul.”
Founded two months ago, the Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc — BSR — brings together complex parties, having in its leadership Silviu Crăiescu of the Republican Right Party, Ninel Peia of the Romanian Nation Party, General Constantin Onișor of the Romanian Nation Party, Dan Chitic of the Coalition for the Nation, Florin Eremia of the Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc, Secretary General Cosmin Vătafu of the Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc, Negre Tudor of the Reformist Party, Stelian Sima of the People’s Social Christian Union Party and Mihai Cristian of the Homeland Party.
If the idea of a bloc troubled us, we noted the courage of the leaders of the Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc in putting up for public debate ideas nested in the minds of many Romanians, weary of multinationals and of the advantages they receive from the Romanian state.

At the G20, in Japan, he was Europe’s voice on finance. Many political hangmen, who do not know the difference between the European Council and the Council of Europe, run Romania today. They have no way of knowing where the bacon comes from, brought gracefully down from the loft by Marcel Ciolacu and given to the Ukrainians for nothing.
The bracing presence of Viorica Dăncilă made me recall an older saying of mine — made in the midst of the jihad unleashed against her: “the time will come when you will admit that the prime minister so ostracised did nothing but good for Romania.” Under her mandate, no state company was sold. What is more, the Romanian state bought the gas company of the Republic of Moldova and repurchased the ownership of the port of Mangalia. To say nothing of the public-private partnerships she initiated with great powers of the world, annulled by the irresponsible government that succeeded her.
On the sovereigntists’ firmament another name has risen. Now it depends on its leaders whether they can convince the Romanians. Among those present in the hall I also noticed persons who could not gather ten votes. Many warm-hearted people, however. But great politics is made with reason, not with feelings.
The Romanian Sovereigntist Bloc has been launched upon the water. We hold to the idea that only a united alliance of the sovereigntists can bring down the ossified power of the servants of Brussels and of Washington. What does AUR think? The gauntlet is thrown.
When I prophesied to those in the hall about the black swan being prepared by foreign structures for the coming elections of 2024, the leaders of the BSR promised me they would bring the white swan onto the stage. Where they will get it from and how they will prepare it — it remains for us to await its sovereign presence, in contrast with the black swan prepared by the hegemon.”
