A Sprint Towards the Inevitable
A sprint towards the inevitable: Moldova and Georgia under NATO’s umbrella; Finland and Sweden in NATO by the autumn; NATO to “guard” Nord Stream (they do manage to be ironic) and, above all, NATO has approved a new strategy that lists China among the strategic threats.
I know: you do not like bad news.
Neither do I. But if we turn our heads away or put on blinkers, we shall not avoid the collision with the juggernaut of history bearing down upon us.
For everything announced today by Stoltenberg does nothing but accelerate the slide towards the abyss.
In truth, NATO has begun a sprint towards disaster, for it deepens the chasm yawning between the Small Planet and the rest of the world, and antagonises the two camps still further.
The rapid inclusion of the two Nordic states in the Alliance and, more recently, the “extension of military assistance” to Moldova and Georgia are nothing but an open strategic and territorial advance eastward — in the middle of a war with the East.
Moreover, listing China among the threats to NATO is beyond doubt the last drop in the overfull cup of poisoned words hurled at the rest of the world — which can only be an unacceptable provocation for the Great Planet.
In fact, from today the economic engine of the Great Planet has had the gauntlet thrown down before it — and that challenge will not go unanswered: the Russia–China alliance has been christened by Stoltenberg before the protagonists had even “signed the papers”.
This bellicose move, which will without doubt bring disaster, can be understood only in the key I have been offering you for at least a year: the Small Planet is trying desperately to preserve its hegemony over the world, over what I have called the Great Planet, and it can do so only by taking up arms — the path beaten by Europeans for hundreds of years. Put more bluntly still: the United States is trying to save the global empire it has ruled alone and authoritatively for at least thirty-two years, that is, since the disappearance of the Soviet Union.
Will they succeed? I do not know. I do not think so. But until we learn the answer, one fact remains certain: we are on a course of military collision with the Great Planet. I say “we” because we belong to NATO, and should there be an armed attack by the Alliance’s troops, it will without doubt be launched from Romanian territory as well.
Yes, my dears: however much I try to feign optimism or indifference for fear of the reactions of the faint-hearted — however hard I try — I cannot lie to you: the situation grows worse by the day.
And today is a day that will stand out in this escalation: NATO has informally declared war on Russia and on China. Whether that war will be cold or hot remains to be seen. What is certain is that the eastward extension of NATO decided today will not go unanswered.
I repeat what matters most for us in this part of the world: Stoltenberg has announced that Moldova and Georgia will be under NATO’s umbrella — two countries that were part of the Soviet Union and which, under the understanding reached at Malta, ought never to have become NATO members, even de facto, for that is what this “security umbrella” means.
It no longer matters whether this gesture springs from madness, from villainy or from stupidity… what matters is only that it will have dramatic effects.
Time hurries us on ever faster… I say it not in fear but in disappointment: somewhere within me I truly hoped that all this madness would stop before it was too late.
