An Epitaph for Europe
Yesterday, being caught up with the funeral of a friend, of a good man, I had no time to involve myself in the funeral of a beautiful dream that proved to be a perfidious illusion: the European project.
For the appointment of Laura Codruța Kövesi as European Chief Prosecutor is nothing other than the tombstone laid over our hopes of a Europe of democracy, of liberties and of nations — the slab “whited on the outside”, from beneath which come the miasmas of the moral and institutional rot of the Ruleoflaw, now exported to the European level… And from which there rises sinisterly the revenant of a Europe of abuse by the organs of force, a Europe where rights and freedoms will become a luxury which only the few and the “politically correct” can afford.
For what, besides perfect abjection and servility, recommended Codruța Kövesi — this prosecutorling with the rank of a tribunal prosecutor’s office — for the high office of Chief Prosecutor in Europe? What did she achieve in her odious career besides the protocols with the secret services and the selection of prosecutors of the Onea–Portocală type for the DNA’s “elite divisions of case-fabricators”? What can Europe have seen in Codruța, if after fifteen years of “fighting corruption” Romania is still so corrupt that it cannot enter Schengen? Perhaps the fact that she destroyed Romanian capital, that she dismantled the native political class… or that she sent to trial only the bribe-takers and not the bribe-givers from the great colonising corporations?
Or perhaps only the fact that Laura Codruța Kövesi has “embodied Service” — as a professional lickspittle with intellectual airs said not long ago.
“Service” and readiness for any villainy are the only features that stand out in the curriculum vitæ of the new European Prosecutor, besides the 70 criminal files in which she is under investigation and the two in which she already has the status of suspect for abuse of office, taking bribes and false testimony. And that appears to be enough…
Her servility, and the abuses and abjections which “the Embodiment of Service” is at any moment ready to commit, will be used brutally by her new masters in implementing the axiomatic programme of the Franco-German binomial: a two-speed Europe. How? By reducing to zero the cohesion funds intended for the less developed countries of eastern and southern Europe. In this way the poor will remain poor… indeed poorer still, through the impossibility of applying protectionist economic policies, through the ban on exceeding the 3% budget deficit threshold, through the total control the western countries hold over the resources and means of production (such as remain) of eastern Europe. From today it is (even more) clear that we are condemned to underdevelopment. To the status of a colony.
But what does our lamenting matter, and the long chanting of the funeral of our departed hopes? From today we are citizens of the European Ruleoflaw, a project carefully built by the Franco-German binomial with the tacit blessing of our great Strategic Partner — for let us not forget that, before being the Prosecutor of the “engine of the multi-speed Europe”, Codruța was and will remain the servant of the American deep state.
Certainly, the appointment of Codruța Kövesi to this for the moment phantom European office is an affront to Romania. Probably the only worthy gesture of Romania at this moment would be withdrawal from the Treaty on enhanced cooperation… at least for as long as the criminally investigated Laura Codruța Kövesi holds any office at European level.
But for that one must be worthy, and have… the courage to be worthy!
