The Other Day Hotnews Interviewed Me

Yes!!! Hotnews!!! You know as well as I do who they are and what interests they represent — a fact laid bare without shame by the man who commented on the context and on what the interviewees said, an old Băsescu activist, the quintessence of anti-national progressivism and of neo-colonialism. But we shall not dwell on that… what matters is the signal! The System is aware of what the trend is. Which means it will do everything it can to strike us, to discredit us, to divide us.

Which is precisely what it did!

Another important aspect for us is the fact that in the “category” of small extra-parliamentary “parties”, #TheCoalitionForTheNation was mentioned first. That too may mean something…

I leave you below what they selected from what I said — a few sentences out of almost an hour of interview — as well as the link at which you may read the whole article.

“Dan Chitic, the leader of the Coalition for the Nation, says that his formation is a conservative one and fits perfectly into the sovereignist current. Indeed, the Coalition for the Nation promoted and lodged in Parliament the sovereignty law, which was rejected by the Parliamentarians at the intervention of the PSD and PNL leaders.

* Dan Chitic, the Coalition for the Nation: ‘Sovereignism, for us, is putting the national interest before all else and the power to decide even if you decide wrongly. Sovereignism comes from sovereign, the royal right to decide, and that belongs to the people; and that means that we Romanians have the right to choose according to our concrete and immediate interests, not the interests of a broad and extremely vaguely defined family such as the European family. (…)

* When you have a family that humiliates you and leaves you waiting at the gates of Schengen and imposes on you mechanisms for controlling the judiciary — a judiciary which works better here than in the Netherlands — and then asks you for solidarity and to give of your resources for the common good… it is not right like that. If Trump said America First and was not arrested, we too can say “Romania First”.’

In Dan Chitic’s view, the sovereignty law is the basis of a platform to bring together the sovereignist parties of Romania.

‘We have sympathisers of sovereignism and conservatism somewhere around 60% of the electorate. We ought to set ourselves as a realistic objective to convince between 25 and 30%. As far as I am concerned there have been only informal, not institutional, discussions about creating a sovereignist pole. If we manage to get past our vanities we could create a common platform bringing together 25–30% of the electorate. Any future political collaboration with AUR will be brought about only on the basis of a political agreement registered as an alliance with the court — not on a handshake, not on taking part on joint lists, because we have a painful memory of one another,’ believes Dan Chitic.”
