Another Day, Another Tragedy
Another National Tragedy! (Warning! A post that may affect you emotionally! I hope it will!)
Two men were stabbed by a madman.
It is sad, dramatic even, but so far it is only a “news item” that has turned into a tragedy.
The tragedy becomes national when we look more closely at the details:
Two workmen of about 30-36 were held captive, bound by the hands and then stabbed by a madman… of 68.
The Police, “the system”, as usual, were there only to make up the numbers and to justify the pharaonic budgets they swallow.
They, “the men of the law”, are competent and prompt only in fining the “denialists” without a muzzle, the old women who sell vegetables, and those who cross a solid white line.
For the rest, we are on our own!
And although we all know how things stand in Romania, we know that nobody protects us from anything… two young men in their thirties allowed themselves to be held captive, bound by the hands and stabbed by a man of nearly 70… twice their age!
Here the national tragedy begins!
Although we are more numerous and stronger, we let ourselves be assaulted, bound and killed by one madman or another, decrepit and villainous!
The “news item” from Onești, this Tragedy, is of a dramatic force of epic, indeed mythological dimensions.
What has happened in our collective, indeed national mind, that we accept with such gratuitous serenity our fate as victims?
What can have set off in the minds of the two unhappy victims this psychic mechanism of the victim, which managed to overcome even the instinct of survival? In what other part of the world, among what other people, could we have met two young men who give up the fight for their own lives out of fear… of what? Of a septuagenarian with a knife in his hand?
No! It was not the inept and belated intervention of the “authorities” that caused the death of the two! Nor even the villainous old man… the cause of the death of the two is their own passivity, their own cowardice, their own failure to react in the face of abuse!
And then are we to wonder that parents do not react to the abuses their children are subjected to? Or that we give up the most fundamental rights without a murmur? Or that we let the last riches this nation still has be sold off?
No! We have no cause to wonder!
Today’s tragedy of these two unhappy men illustrates perfectly our national tragedy!
God forgive them! Although the victims not only accepted their dramatic fate but also encouraged, by their passivity, the abuse and the murder of which they were the victims!
As dO we all!
Perhaps it is hard for us to accept that we all play, day after day, the role of the two victims… accomplices through passivity in our own killing!
I hope the death of these two unhappy men may be the tragedy, the alarm signal that wakes us all!
I hope… I still want to be able to hope!
